When paradise has a sudden cold snap
San Diego has always been an oasis in that it is ALWAYS warm and when it isn't 70+ outside, it is never below 60. One needs a constant supply of hoodies and cardigans since no one has heaters in their houses (or rarely turns them on) but generally, one is able to wear any outfit, any time of the year.
Recently, it has started (gasp!) raining and it's (tear!) pretty cold. Cold in the way that mid to high 50s with a lot of moisture in the air can be pretty hard on us spoiled San Diegans. So how does one dress when one's closet does not have seasonal clothing but rather scarves to be worn with tank tops and coats to be worn with shorts?!
I have resorted to a few of the following stay-warm-and-dry methods:
1. Scarves for warmth, not just style- Suddenly those plain cotton American Apparel scarves are relatively useless and I'm resorting to the thicker knit ones
2. "FUGGs"- I have yet to spend the money for a real pair of Uggs (i'm considering the new slate gray ones) but have had a steady stream of Fuggs (Fake Uggs) which do just fine. I normally only wear them on winter trips to NYC but have started wearing them in public. It's a bit embarrassing
3. Wool socks- OMG. Costco wool socks are amazing. 5 pairs for $10 and they are so warm and in NO way itchy. Trust.
4. Cardigan plus jacket- I have been wearing my cotton black j.crew blazer over my signature cardigans a lot in order to add a level of warmth.
Pictures of said items will be posted eventually.

The Fed 15
FACT #1 about the Fed: they take the holidays very seriously.
In the midst of economic recovery, we feast! so many holiday outings and year end parties...my coworkers dub this month where employees gain "the Fed 15." Today was bankwide holiday lunch. To celebrate the happy day of free food, the Bank Holding Companies Unit and I decide to dress in color coordinated outfits. Girls in Green & Boys in Red!

semi-comfortable calling SF my humble abode?
Everyone in SF told me that the first 6 months living in the city is the HARDEST, but once you are past that- it will totally get better...didnt really believe it at first but today i realized that this is my 6th month living in SF...and IT IS SO TRUE! still feel new, but thats slowly changing. Take a peak at my life!
view from my neighborhood (24th&Fulton). amazing view of the golden gate bridge.

what keeps me busy after work and weekends, the awesome-est place ever = SF Bike Kitchen!!!!

oh and on sunday i went to the Academy of Sciences museum, which is less than a 5 minute ride from apartment. there an 4 story indoor rainforest that is seriously amazing. if you san-diegans come visit, we are going on thursday nights when the museum turns into a PARTY and they serve drinks and have DJ spinning.

desktops are the new black
Hi I'm a PC! I got a brand new HP desktop (8gb RAM & 640gb hard drive) w/ a 20" monitor over thanksgiving break and i think it might be the best thing ever. It also runs windows 7 which is awesome. I'm using my wooden Trovata shoebox to lift the monitor higher and i think it deserves some recognition here on go blank youself
oh more importantly, do you see MY style icon on the screen! I love how Alexa pairs this faded button up loosely tucked into the miniskirt and accessorizes with a long simple chain necklace. so effortless, i can't get over it!

teach me how to dress properly in wintertime
omg it is getting so incredibly cold here. you san dieg-ites don't understand. I'm riding thru GG park at night and its like 30 degrees. my nose is all runny and my snot is frreezing to my face. its really attractive, i know.
So on saturday i was hanging out near the mission. i decided to give my PL frames a break and revert back to my round frames. its so funny when i wear them bc people will still come up to me and either (1) comment on them or (2) stare at me
what do you guys think of my outfit last night. i love it so much. i feel like a kooky grungy hobo...which i think was appropriate given the weather and neighborhood i was in. I got this red creweneck sweatshirt at a thrift store in the mission for $3.99. it was so cold outside i just needed more layers. and then my friend bought this red plaid shirt so i wrapped it around my waist and it felt like so 90's and awesome. i also love this hat i got at H&M for $8. i feel like such a homie when i wear it

Classy sweats? An oxymoron?
I work with kids and teens a lot. I also often go entire days without seeing anyone else at work because I work in something of an annex. This combined with the fact that my office is freezing I am often compelled to wear dressed up lounge pants to work. Obviously I should be inspired to look awesome everyday but that's just unrealistic.
I am constantly plagued with the desire to wear sweats without looking like a hobo. Luckily my sister who is good at sewing is going to make me a pair of well fit jersey pants made in a burgundy color. That way I can wear them with flats and a cardigan and look less than embarrassing.
